Thank you everyone for voting ASCAP to 1st. . .my new show should debut on the first Sunday of June.
For some clarification, I don't think it's fair at all what ASCAP wants, but I do understand the point they are trying to make. Rather than fight them though and go to court, with a personal health issue and other private matters, going to court could be devastating for me, especially if I lost. I simply cannot afford the stress-more than anything. The licensing fees are too high for me to do on my own, so I'm transforming badave.com over the weekend and opening it up to more parodists than ever before. If I am able to make badave.com profitable enough to pay for licensing, I plan to introduce a file hosting option that is aimed specifically at parody, so that other parodists don't have to go through what I just did.
My stuff will be available free on soundclick.com/belowaveragedave or soundclick.com/badave as long as Soundclick is still a safe place for parody, but my goal is to make www.badave.com a safe place for parody. . .permanently. The donations coming in have been great, I'm not very close to the three collective licensing fees that would be involved between ASCAP, BMI or SCESA at this point, but we are slowly getting there. Thanks DJ Particle, and believe you me, the new badave is seeking to educate the public on the RIAA, ASCAP, BMI and SCESA, I understand what they said--I don't agree with it, but I understand it--I'm with you 100%!
